9/14/2023 0 Comments Trifexis vs sentinel heartworm![]() Now trifexis is AMAZING But you need to check that your dog with not have a bad reaction to it. But to start- do it every other day for 5 days. My dog has a severe flea allergy so it's misery for him.īathe your dog once a month with this regularly. I'll look up the brand I have and send it to you later. It is not harmful to toddlers but it'll kill anything on your dog. TLDR - any personal recommendations on Trifexis vs Sentinel based on our living situation/needs?įirst off start with purchasing a kill on contact flea shampoo. The only thing that makes me hesitate with Trifexis is multiple articles I see about dogs having seizures and dieing after using.I know it's the internet and you have to take everything with a grain of salt.but. I see lots of Sentinel reviews recommending you ALSO use Frontline or Advantage in addition to Sentinel. Since there are tons of animals in our shared area I'm more concerned with killing the fleas we have already. From my understandng Trifexis is better for killing fleas while Sentinel is better for preventing the spread of fleas in your environment. I like Trifexis as it kills fleas on contact whereas Sentinel just kills the eggs. And looking into whipworm preventatives I researched Sentinel and Trifexis seem like what we're looking for. We've been looking into new flea control anyway as we have a toddler now and would like to avoid the nasty, oily topical preventative. Which FINALLY brings me to my question :) ![]() His weight is back to normal now so I'm looking into new medication They also recommended switching to another heartworm preventative that handles whipworms since we live in a shared pet heavy environment. They recommended de-worming just in case. We took him to the vet and they ran blood tests but found nothing. Recently our dog had some MAJOR weight loss. We just assume it's from the heat and other pets and strays in the area that aren't protected We've never really had a flea "infestation" but during the summer you can always find some fleas (usually hiding in his "former" testicle area for some reason). We also live in Florida in a pet heavy apartment complex with a shared pet potty area.įleas tend to be an issue especially in the summertime when it's extremely hot. ![]() We have a 7 year old beagle who has been on a combo of Frontline and Heartgard for most of his life. ![]()
